Now, this is a level up from the Hosanna, with greater precision and focus—very pure and more terroir-driven. The palate is sleek and smooth on the entry, with svelte tannins, a perfect line of acidity and a very harmonious finish that fans out nicely. Increasingly, I find it one of the most complete Pomerols in the Moueix range. Perhaps, that's because it comes from nnumerous parcels throughout the appellation and is therefore a wine that greatly benefits from blending. Bright acids and floral top notes add lift to a core of red-toned fruit. Hints of cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, mint and orange peel linger on the beautidully persistent finish. Seamless elegance combined with energy here, lots of life and lift, bright acidity, bright crunchy fruit, great tannins, powdery and filling, providing the support. Still a little compact, but this is clean and concise, persistent and just so easy to see the finesse. Generous but controlled, stylish and chiselled, it has power with a cherry chocolate core, minerality and lots of cool menthol elements. Nice construction and presentation. Lots of drinkability and charm on offer in equal measure. A little powdery on the finish but it’s super long. Top buy! The medium-bodied palate is tight-knit and lively, with fine-grained tannins and a lingering ferrous finish. The blend is 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 0.5% Petit Verdot. Intense concentrated espresso and liqourice, the construction is expertly done, with lifted architecture, confident tannins and lift on the finish, turning on the pleasure factor as it opens in the glass. Drink 2030-2048. 94-97 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2024) The 2023 Château La Fleur-Pétrus comes from roughly 19 hectares of deeper, gravelly, clay soils located on the upper plateau of Pomerol. Almost all Merlot (there's 3% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Petit Verdot), its ruby/purple hue is followed by a medium to full-bodied, round, concentrated Pomerol that has the vintage’s pure red and black fruits as well as some spicy, floral nuances. It's impeccably balanced and has ripe, polished, yet building tannins and a great finish. It has the château's overall elegant, silky style front and center yet this brings ample depth and richness. 97-98 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2024) Very tight for this chateau, with blackberry, chocolate and black-cherry character, as well as a hint of smoky oak. Cask sample. Violet-ruby hue. Red-berry aromas. Really refined palate, the fruit juicy and pure, the tannins extremely fine. Not much sweetness but clean, fresh and persistent. Plenty of charm. Drink 2030 – 2042. 96-98 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (Mei 2024) Flowers, spice, black raspberries, espresso, cherries, and licorice are abundant in the aromatic profile. On the palate, this is sensuous, silky, and sexy. It is polished, rich, and velvety, with layers of dark chocolate-covered black cherries, mint, spice, licorice, smoke, espresso, and plums. This is long, as well as intense, with energy, and complexity. You can enjoy this with pleasure with only a few years in the cellar. But give it a decade, and this is going to offer incredible drinking. The wine blends 96.5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and .05 Petit Verdot. The harvest took place September 7 - September 19. Vooral sinds 1998 stijgt de kwaliteit gestaag met 2010 als voorlopig hoogtepunt. De wijngaard heeft op vandaag een critische massa van 18,7 hectare, beplant met 90% Merlot en 10% Cabernet Franc. Er wordt 40 à 50% nieuwe eik gebruikt. De productie bereikt zo’n 3.750 kisten per jaar. De eigenaars zijn Christian en Edouard Moueix en de wijnmaker is Eric Murisasco. Het Château produceert geen tweede wijn. Er zijn sporen van het gehucht Lafleur in 1289, maar de wijngaard werd pas gedoopt in het midden van de XIXde Eeuw door de eigenaarsfamilie Arnaud, die ook Petrus bezat. Sinds de legendarische Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953 La Fleur Petrus kocht, startte een stille revolutie die Pomerol tot de wereldtop bracht. In 1994 voegde zijn zoon Christian daar “une délicieuse butte graveleuse” van Le Gay aan toe, dat centraal gelegen was op het plateau. Kleinzoon Edouard kocht enkele hectare “Graves profondes” bij, gelegen nabij Le Pin, ten Zuiden van het plateau. Providence, een wijngaard aangekocht in 2005, wordt voortaan ook selectief opgenomen in het ensemble. Sluitstuk werd een perceel nabij de kerk van Pomerol en een bijhorend, elegant gebouw dat vanaf juli 2013 het nieuw Château La Fleur Pétrus werd. Op enkele jaar tijd groeide La Fleur Pétrus van 9 tot 18,7 hectare en werd zo een toonaangevende entiteit binnen Pomerol. Met de edele “blauwe” kleigronden van Petrus als tegenpool, moet La Fleur Pétrus de vaandeldrager worden van de Graves van Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
