Château Hosanna 2023, een weelderige en krachtige Pomerol, behoort tot de mooiste wijnen van het plateau. De wijn opent met een ingetogen maar verfijnde neus van florale aroma’s, mineraliteit en kruiden, en onthult lagen van donkere vruchten en specerijen die zich ontwikkelen tot een lange, frisse afdronk. De mond biedt breedgeschouderde tannines, die de weelderige kern van gerookt zwart fruit en specerijen omhullen. Met accenten van ijzer, zoet zwart fruit, en een vleugje inkt, komt deze wijn tot leven in zijn jeugdige kracht en complexiteit. Hoewel hij nu nog wat tijd nodig heeft om volledig in balans te komen, biedt de 2023 Hosanna een uitzonderlijk rijpingspotentieel. Voor wie op zoek is naar een wijn met diepgang, textuur en gelaagdheid, belooft deze vintage een zinnenprikkelende ervaring voor de komende decennia. Rijke tonen van geroosterde pruimen, bramen en drop op de neus. De mond is breed en intens met tannines die zich prachtig om de kern van de wijn vouwen. Krachtige mineraliteit en een verfijnde, kruidige afdronk zorgen voor een langdurige en bevredigende ervaring. 74% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc geplukt tegen een hoog rendement van 48hl/ha. 4,5 hectare, met oude wijnstokken uit 1957. De wijngaard werd gevormd uit de beste percelen van het voormalige Certan Giraud met ijzerhoudende kleigronden. IN DE PERS 92-94 William Kelley – robertparker.com (April 2024) Rich and gourmand, the 2023 Hosanna wafts from the glass with aromas of ripe berries, baked red fruits and cherries, framed by hints of fresh mint and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's a rich, textural wine with a ripe core of slightly liqueured fruit, supple tannins and a long, vanillin-inflected finish. 90-92 Neal Martin – vinous.com (April 2024) The 2023 Hosanna was picked September 7 to 19. It has quite a rambunctious bouquet with plenty of black fruit, fig and touches of dark chocolate, curiously reminiscent of some of the early vintages of Hosanna. Maybe a little trop? The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins and fine acidity. It’s very pure and, in my view, demonstrates more panache and sophistication than the aromatics at this juncture. I really appreciate the finish, and I just hope the aromatics gain more composure during élevage. In that case, it will deserve a higher score. Drink 2028-2048. 95-97 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2024) The 2023 Hosanna is a classic wine from this property. Rich, ample and explosive, the 2023 offers up copious dark-toned fruit, mocha, new leather, licorice and chocolate notes. As always, Hosanna is marked by its textural breadth, volume and dark flavor profile conferred by old vines planted in the mid 1950s, just after the 1956 frost. Of the 4.5 hectares, one was replanted in the early 2000s. The 2023 is a fine example. Drink 2033-2063. 94 Georgie Hindle - Decanter.com (April 2024) Milk chocolate, vanilla, violets, so much perfume and dark black bramble fruit on the nose. Rich, full, supple and juicy with a nice shot of not-too-high acidity, before the really quite present tannins take over and fill the mouth. Plush and ample, this is broad and fully shouldered, and in that respect maybe not as finessed and direct as some, but I like the structure. This will be delicious. Stylish and confident. I love the menthol, blackcurrant juice and fleshy tannins. Ends long and so cool and fresh. Great stuff. Drink 2029-2049. 92-94+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown – thewineindependent.com (April 2024) The 2023 Hosanna is deep garnet-purple in color. Gregarious notes of boysenberry preserves, ripe plums, and wild blueberries jump from the glass, followed by hints of violets, dark chocolate, and camphor. The medium to full-bodied palate has impressive density and plushness, with lovely tension and a fragrant finish. The blend is 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Drink 2028-2042. 93 Jane Anson – janeanson.com (April 2024) Medium-plus intensity, dark plum, richly textured, coffee bean, espresso, plum, tobacco, liqourice root, plenty of complexity, welcome flashes of slate and mint leaf, touch of tar with brings things to a quicker finish than usual. Harvest September 7 to 19. Drink 2027-2038. 94-96 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2024) From more blue clay and iron-rich soils and based on 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc, the 2023 Château Hosanna ranks with the gems in the vintage and is a wine to seek out. Gorgeous crème de cassis, mulberries, spicy oak, graphite, and floral notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. The purity of fruit here is just about off the charts, and I love its overall balance and charm. It's going to be impossible to resist over the coming two decades. 98-99 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2024) Wow. This is really structured and sizzling with dark fruit, such as blackberries and blueberries. Salty, racy aftertaste. The tannins are energetic and so long, driving the wine through an almost endless finish. Lots of old vines used for this. 74% merlot and 26% cabernet franc. 16,5/20 James Lawther – jancisrobinson.com (Mei 2024) 74% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. A more elegant offering this year. Deep purple colour. Dark-fruit and floral notes. Smooth and comfortable on the palate, the fruit pure and the tannins finely honed. Drink 2030 – 2042. 95-97 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (Mei 2024) Black plums, black raspberries, black cherries, flowers, and dark chocolate pop effortlessly in the perfume. On the palate the wine is luscious, vibrant, sensuous, and rich. There is a serious depth of flavor, good concentration, and length. The finish is as dark as the perfume with dark chocolate coated plums, black cherries, espresso, and licorice. There is a refreshing, floral mouth aromatic in the finish adding complexity, and freshness. With aging, this is going to be one of my favorite vintages of Hosanna. The wine blends 74% Merlot, with 26% Cabernet Franc. The harvest took place September 7-September 19. Drink 2029-2055. 95-97 Alexandre Ma 94-97 rvf.com 94-96 Bernard Burtschy – Les Echos HosannaHosanna werd op korte tijd een ikoon. Het ontstond in 1999 uit het beste perceel van 4,5 hectare van het voormalige Certan Guiraud, waarvan 3,5 in productie in 2022. De ligging, hoog op het plateau van Pomerol, is spectaculair: ten Noorden ligt Lafleur, ten Oosten Petrus en ten Zuiden Vieux Château Certan. Hosanna wordt gemeenzaam omschreven als "de Cheval Blanc van Pomerol" omwille van de 30% Cabernet Franc in de wijngaard. Het trackrecord is nu al "fameux": zo werd het ondermaats bevonden 2002 nooit te koop aangeboden en benadert de 2009 de perfectie. De lat ligt hoog… MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
