Mooi!

IN DE PERS

92-94 William Kelley – robertparker.com (April 2024)
Jean-Pierre Moueix's "fermage" of this estate began in 1962, and his eponymous firm has only just acquired ownership of the vineyards to produce the 2023 Latour à Pomerol, which gives one a sense of how long it can take to acquire land in Pomerol! Offering up aromas of minty cherries, cassis, rose petals and petroleum jelly, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a generous core of sun-kissed fruit, sweet, powdery tannins and a broad, penetrating finish.

91-93 Neal Martin – vinous.com (April 2024)
The 2023 Latour à Pomerol was picked from September 7 to 19. It has a concentrated nose with more opulent black fruit laced than I anticipated, laced with violet and iris flower. Marine notes simmer in the background. Maybe I would have liked a little more delineation? The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe red fruit, a caressing mouthfeel, fine acidity and a dash of spice toward the finish. It's a generous and open-knit Pomerol that will give a lot of pleasure in its youth, but it leaves profundity for another vintage. Drink 2027-2047.

91-94 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2024)
The 2023 Latour à Pomerol is a powerful wine. Swaths of tannin make a strong opening impression. There's plenty of fruit behind all that structure, but this is a wine that could go either way during élevage. In other words, it may come together more fully, or not. Drink 2028-2043.

94 Georgie Hindle - Decanter.com (April 2024)
Dark chocolate, vanilla, violets and juicy blackcurrants, smells cool and fresh. Ripe fruit gives the almost weighty texture, long and streamlined - clearly persistent but with a lovely mineral core driving the wine and softly expansive tannins that fill the mouth. Opulent but cool, and reined in by the acidity. Not as immediately charming as other vintages, but it’s polished and stylish. Lovely finesse and purity, classy and cool but with lots of Pomerol concentration also alongside crushed stone powdery tannins on the finish. This will benefit from ageing. A little tight and compact right now but excellently controlled with layers and nuance. Drink 2028-2040.

90-92 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – thewineindependent.com (April 2024)
The 2023 Latour a Pomerol, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. After a swirl or two, notes of juicy black plums, boysenberries, and star anise come barreling out of the glass, followed by suggestions of cracked black pepper and cardamom. The medium-bodied palate is plush and fruity, with a refreshing line and mineral-laced finish. After 62 years of exclusive farming, the J P Moueix family were able to purchase this estate outright in 2024. Drink 2028-2042.

92 Jane Anson – janeanson.com (April 2024)
Plummy fruit character on the nose, and velvety depths to the colour, plenty of black fruits to sink into, and a textured Pomerol embrace. Acidities are a little fresh, but there is a sense of energy and a kick on the finish. Harvest September 7 to 19. Drink 2027-2038.

91-93 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2024)
Mulberries, black raspberries, spicy wood, ripe herbs, and camphor notes all emerge from the 2023 Château Latour A Pomerol (100% Merlot), a medium-bodied, supple, elegant, nicely textured Pomerol that has the vintage's charming, pure, graceful style. It brings solid depth and density, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. This comes from 8 hectares of vines in deep, gravelly soils over clay that were harvested between September 7 and 19.

94-95 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2024)
This is structured and focused, with firm tannins and a polished texture. Seamless and long with medium to full body. Deep and layered on the palate, building to a rather muscular finish. Big at the end. Almost rustic in style. 100% merlot.

93-94 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (Mei 2024)
Quite floral in its character, the wine is elegant, dark, and sensuous, with loads of ripe, dark red berries, chocolate, spice, mint, and licorice. The creamy-textured, lifted finish lingers, with its layers of sweet, and spicy fruit topped with shaved dark chocolate. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. Drink 2028-2047.

In 2008 werd hij “Decanter Man of the Year”.
