2023 Château Lafleur Gazin is een verfijnde en elegante Pomerol 100% Merlot. Dieprood met bessen, kersen, pruimpjes met een hint van munt bovenop. Delicate florale accenten verblijden de neus. De mon is medium tot vol met een vlezige en gelaagde textuur. De kern van geconcentreeerd fruit komt rijk over en onthult een aangenaam samengaan van rijpe bessen en meer exotische toetsen. De zachte tannine geven de wijn een luxueuze tongval. De afdronk is lang en elegant, met zowel "fruité" als "minéralité". Mooi zo. Fraaie vitaliteit en energie overtuigen. Bewaarpotentieel ontbreekt niet. Al met al is de 2023 Château Lafleur Gazin een charmante en evenwichtige Pomerol die zowel nu als in de komende jaren zal blijven fascineren met verfijning en elegantie. IN DE PERS 91-94 William Kelley – robertparker.com (April 2024) The Mouiex firm acquired this estate in 2021 (after cultivating it in "fermage" since 1974) and sold off the less optimally situated parcels lying on sandy soils. The 2023 Lafleur-Gazin offers up aromas of dark berries, cherries, baked plums and mint, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate that's quite deep and extracted, perhaps reflecting an understandable ambition to signal new seriousness at this address. It's 100% Merlot. 86-88 Neal Martin – vinous.com (April 2024) The 2023 Lafleur-Gazin was picked September from 7 to 19. The nose shows just a little dilution compared to its peers, not unattractive but just missing a bit of depth and fruité. The palate is actually better, with quite "thick" tannins, though the oak somewhat masks a lack of fruit and grip. I wonder if the wood tannins will take control of this Pomerol? Let's see after bottling. 91-93 Antonio Galloni – vinous.com (April 2024) The 2023 Lafleur-Gazin is a succulent, juicy Pomerol backed by notable textural depth and resonance. Ripe, red-toned fruit and exotic floral notes give the Lafleur-Gazin its distinctive, forward profile. Readers will find a Pomerol with tons of immediate appeal and pure charm. I expect the 2023 will drink well right out of the gate. 93 Georgie Hindle - Decanter.com (April 2024) Expressive and aromatic on the nose, perfumed and floral. Nicely scented and full aromatically. Juicy, sappy, agile, nice energy and focus with bright fruits, lovely ripe tannins and overall lots of persistence. Feels finessed and polished, structured and suave. Good liveliness, great blackcurrant and cherry fruit, lots of blueberries too, wet stones and graphite. A nice, cool, polished wine. Stylish. Great for drinking soon. A top buy. Drink 2029-2041. 87-89 Lisa Perrotti-Brown – thewineindependent.com (April 2024) The 2023 Lafleur-Gazin, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. It offers up a very pretty perfume of roses, kirsch, and raspberry pie followed by hints of black tea and bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate is plush and juicy, with a lively line and red berry-laced finish. Drink 2027-2037. 90 Jane Anson – janeanson.com (April 2024) Medium plus intensity, inky plum colour, well judged density through the palate and although acidities are pretty high, they come with sappy vibrancy to the tannins, and a dash of mint leaf and blackcurrant pastille. Enjoyable. Harvest September 7 to 19. 93-95 Jeb Dunnuck – jebdunnuck.com (Mei 2024) All Merlot pulled from 8.5 hectares of vines on the eastern side of the appellation, the 2023 Château Lafleur-Gazin sports a deeper ruby/purple hue as well as rocking red and black fruits that give way to spicy oak, chocolate, and loamy earth-like nuances. This richly textured, medium to full-bodied Pomerol has a round, lush mouthfeel, terrific mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. Count me impressed. This is worth checking out. 93-94 James Suckling – jamessuckling.com (April 2024) A solid and structured Pomerol with blackberry, black olive and light brown-sugar character. Hint of smoked wood, too. It’s medium- to full-bodied with very integrated, slightly muscular tannins and a persistent finish. 100% merlot. 90-92 Jeff Leve – thewinecellarinsider.com (Mei 2024) Medium-bodied, refined, elegant, and vibrant, the fruits are soft, pure, sweet, and on the red berry side, with a licorice, dark cocoa, and savory edge in the finish. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. Drink 2026-2038. Lafleur GazinDeze mooie wijngaard van 8,5 hectare, gesitueerd tussen Château Lafleur en Château Gazin is eigendom van de familie van Madame Delfour-Borderie sinds drie generaties. Hij is aangeplant met 80% Merlot en 20% Cabernet Franc. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld 30 jaar oud. De bodemsamenstelling variëert tussen leem, graves en klei. Een traditionele werkwijze en vinificatie gekoppeld aan de diversiteit van het terroir maakt van Lafleur Gazin een typisch soepele en volmondige Pomerol. MoueixChristian Moueix is net zoals zijn legendarische vader, Jean-Pierre Moueix, vereenzelvigd met Pomerol. Na zijn studies aan UC Davis eind de jaren 1960, vervoegde hij de Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix waarvan hij de leiding nam. Zijn zoon Edouard staat nu aan zijn zijde. Hij bestuurt een indrukwekkend imperium dat ondermeer La Fleur Pétrus, Trotanoy en Hosanna omvat in Pomerol, Bélair Monange in Saint Emilion en Dominus in Napa Valley.
